We have been happily getting our landsman boots dirty for over eight years. With six issues a year, we are for the country, by the country. A useful, informative, free magazine for farmers, smallholders, country gardeners, rural dwellers and we have an increasing urban audience. A welcome for those who have deep roots in the rural community; a hello to ‘lifestyle’ farmers and readers chasing the country living dream.

I was born and bred in Bristol but have lived for (too) many years just North of Manchester.

During my infrequent visits to Bristol and North Somerset, I pick up current copies of publications that concern themselves with life in the South West (e.g. the Mendip Times, Landsman) and have a good read. Without fail, I find them very enjoyable with articles and adverts on aspects of daily life that we don’t see up here.

I was particularly taken by the pieces in your Sep/Oct issue 74 on share schemes for smallholders (Emma Hillier) and the Milk Station (Stephen Davy-Osborne), both excellent ideas. I shall pass them on to my friendly local dairy farmer.

An appreciative reader looking forward to your next issue
