Treat Yourself This Christmas With A Figgy’s Christmas Pudding

Forget the dreary supermarket offerings this Christmas, and treat yourself to a proper old-fashioned Christmas Pudding from Figgy’s. Handmade in Devon, these award-winning puds are just like Granny used to make, and are a far cry from the modern mass-produced version.

Husband and wife team, Richie and Jo Evans, make just a small number of their Christmas Puddings each year in their artisan bakery near Exeter. Using an old family recipe, they stick to tradition, maturing their Christmas Puddings for several months in earthenware bowls.

Nothing but the best goes into their Christmas Puddings. Ten-year-old Somerset Cider Brandy from the Somerset Distillery, as well as CAMRA-award-winning Port Stout from Hanlons brewery in Devon, to name the most important ingredients.

“Our Christmas Puddings are nothing like the stodgy modern version you can pick up for a couple of pounds in a plastic bowl” said Jo. “We make them the old-fashioned way, just as we used to for ourselves, so you can be sure you’re getting a pudding as good as homemade.”

Figgy’s Christmas Puddings also make excellent gifts, as they’re beautifully presented with a cotton cloth tied in the old-fashioned ‘rabbit-ears’ style around the top of their earthenware bowl. You can send a pudding in the post to your friends or relatives, and Figgy’s will include one of their bespoke gift cards with your personal message.

Figgy’s has received multiple awards for their Christmas Puddings, including ‘Best Dessert’ in the Taste of the West Awards (2014 & 2012) and a Gold Star in the prestigious Great Taste Awards (2012 & 2010).
