You are cordially invited to the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the
Devon Association of Smallholders at Bicton College on Sunday 3rd July 2016 starting at 11am.
This is a fantastic venue and is Devon’s only land-based sciences college, as well as having been the first Rare Breeds Survival Trust College in the UK!!
Your ticket will give you access to all of the following during the day:
Bicton College Gardens & Arboretum
Your ticket price will give you full access during the event to the Bicton College Garden & Arboretum which is set in Grade I listed parkland and approached along a unique avenue of monkey puzzle trees. The grounds comprise 200 hectares of open parkland and rolling countryside and the majestic Georgian manor house overlooks a beautiful lake. The college of agriculture has display gardens with a huge number of botanical collections and both the national collections of Agapanthus and Pittisporum are held here. Whilst some plants are set out in beds for teaching and study purposes, others are laid out in borders to display their effect in general planting. Features include an old walled garden, a woodland garden, numerous greenhouses and an Arboretum with a 0.5 mile walk. There is also a plant centre with many rare and unusual plants for sale.
Each ticket holder will receive a ‘FREE’ Hog Roast roll or vegetarian alternative, which is kindly being provided by one of our own DASH members Joyce Greenslade.
Bicton college are providing additional refreshments in the way of teas, coffees and most importantly, a cash bar!!
There will be a live ceilidh band playing throughout the day to get your feet shuffling and your toes tapping!! Dancing is not mandatory but if you would like to, I am sure there will be plenty of opportunity.
Ask The Experts
We will have some very knowledgeable experts on hand throughout the day so you will have the opportunity to ask them all those questions you can never find the answer to. Are you a novice sheep handler who could do with some advice? Would you like to know more about how to deal with the trees on your land? Would you like to be more sustainable? Or learn something about upcoming changes in spraying legislation?
We are putting together a programme, so you can spend time with each of our experts and ask any question you like.
Deadstock Car Boot Sale
Why not fill your boot, trailer or van with all your unwanted rolls of fencing, unused tools or any other equipment that you have kicking around at the back of your shed and take home the things you really need. An immense amount of hard work is going into making this a really enjoyable event for you all young and old alike, you are very welcome to bring your family and friends and please do spread the word, the more the merrier!!
